Tines, Topdressing, Trees and a Tee

This past week was another busy one!  We started off the week by needle tining putting greens.  This process left small holes that stimulate root growth before the growing season comes to an official close soon.  We followed this practice with a sand topdressing to serve as a blanket for colder night temperatures.

A new ladies tee was constructed on hole #14.  The old one lined up too far to the right.  As the trees have matured, the tee shot had become obstructed.  We resolved this by centering it with the hole.  Due to the location of the cart path we had to bring it across the path adding about 10yds to a very short par 4.

Finally, while we all know we could lose about 100 trees, it was decided to plant a couple trees  instead.  These two trees are very important to the safety of the members.  Tee shots from 10 tee have been frequently making there way on and around 17 green.  These two Arborvitae trees are the “Green Giant” variety and will grow around three foot per year!
