Cypress Tree Root KNOTS Any More!

We have many large Cypress trees on our property.  These trees look almost like evergreens but lose their needles each season.  Cypress trees are also known for being wet-site tolerant and producing distinctive surface “knots” from their root system.  These trees can be desirable in the right location, but planted too close to our greens has proven trouble.  The green on hole #13 has had numerous knots show at the surface.  Not only is this a playability issue, it also proves the root system is under our green surface sucking valuable moisture and nutrients from it!  This particular tree will be removed during winter, but for now we have repaired our green.  The process of removing these knots is pretty amazing, take a look!
