2017 Shop Tour!

Today I was off campus again attending the annual Mississippi Valley golf course superintendents Association (MVGCSA) shop tour!  The MVGCSA is our local chapter of the national Golf Course Superintendents Association of America.  Each year we visit a different facility, do some networking and listen to multiple speakers.  This year Boone Valley Golf Club hosted the event.  As many would assume, they have a very large facility with an open layout.  Here’s a couple poor photos that only show about one third of the property.

We had multiple professionals from the university of Missouri’s turf department speak upon various topics.  The MVGCSA awarded MU with $5000 to be used toward research projects.  This is a usual relationship trade-off.  MU really works side by side with us, taking our issues and challenges and set up trials to help solve issues scientifically.  We also had our sections USGA representative discuss current bunker construction trends as well as the director of MAGA update us on the proposed changes to the rules of golf in 2019.  Needless to say these events are very beneficial to keeping up with an ever changing industry!
